Players' Village and Facilities
HORNETS NEST
As the primary tournament location, the Hornets Nest will provide for all of the registered participantsâ needs. Wishing to raise the player experience at the tournament, the Playersâ Village will be located inside a covered, temperature-controlled sports dome accessible only to players and registered participants. The sports dome has been secured for the duration of the tournament and, as such, teams will be able to leave any equipment or gear at the tournament location: no need to transport everything back at the end of the day. The Playersâ Village will recreate one of Canadaâs favourite pastimes: getting together with friends and family at a summer cottage, sharing food, drinks and good cheer.
Club Areas
Located within the dome and placed in a U-shape, all clubs will be allocated a designated area to leave their belongings, get changed, hang-out, etc. Lunches will be delivered at a set hour by tournament volunteers for each club in their designated area.
The Beach
This area, in the centre of the dome will be inspired by the great Canadian pastimes of spending time with friends and family around a camp fire, at a cottage, by the lake or in the great Canadian wilderness. Music will be provided with a live DJ and all registered participants will be able to renew old friendships and foster new ones. A Canadian twist on what made Amsterdam & Nashville so very special: a unique laid-back space just for registered participants!
First Aid & Massage Area
Located within the dome and beside the ambulance access door, the medical staff will offer injury prevention and management services, including Athletic Therapy, Sport Medicine and Massage services.
Toilet and Handwashing Stations
A sufficient number of portable toilets and hand washing stations will be located on site, close to the Playersâ Village.
Water Bottle Refill Stations
Portable potable water cisterns with water bottle refill stations will be located on site, close to the Playersâ Village.
Ambulance and Courtesy Shuttle Parking
The parking for the on-site ambulance, together with the Courtesy Shuttles will be located on-site, close to the Playersâ Village.
Bus Hop-On / Hop-Off Station
Registered participants will be able to use this shuttle service, located on site. They will also be able to hop-on or hop-off the continuously running shuttles between the Hornets Nest and the LRT station. At peak hours (early morning and late afternoon), additional shuttles will be provided to ensure everyone can get to their intended destination on time.
Vendorsâ Village â Main
A Vendorsâ Village will be located on-site, in full view of the pitches. This will allow registered participants to enjoy all of the services and shopping they require. They will also be able to secure additional food & beverages within this location, in full view of the action on the fields.
Tournament Nerve Centre
The Clubhouse will contain the tournament nerve centre. This centre will be connected to the secondary nerve centre via radio and telephone. Wheelchair accessible facilities are located within the clubhouse.
Refereesâ Facilities
The refereesâ facilities will be contained within the clubhouse, including changing rooms and dedicated showers. This will ensure easy coordination of match officiating concerns with the Tournament Directorâs office.
Transportation to Tournament Location including Shuttle Details
Both venues will be connected to each other and to Blair light rail station via shuttle bus throughout the tournament. Â
All participants will be provided with a public transport pass for the full-week of the tournament at no extra-cost.Â
Light rail stations are located on the University of Ottawa campus and throughout the Ottawa downtown core, making travel to and from the tournament a breeze!
First Aid and Medical Services
Located within the dome and beside the ambulance access door, the medical staff will offer injury prevention and management services, including Athletic Therapy, Sport Medicine and Massage services.
There are 5 Hospital Emergency Rooms in Ottawa that have the necessary capacity to accommodate any injuries quickly and efficiently. Â The designated Hospital under our approved Emergency Plan is the Ottawa General Hospital. If necessary, when an injured participant is transported via ambulance to receive care greater than can be administered at the tournament site, we will have volunteers with vehicles standing by to take a chaperone or team representative to meet the ambulance at the Emergency Room. The volunteers will also be on call to provide transport from the Emergency Room back to their accommodation or the tournament location once they are discharged from the hospital.
In Memoriam
The IGR family last was all together during the summer of 2018. The last four years that have brought us to the 2022 edition of the Bingham Cup Ottawa 2022 have been challenging â for individuals and their loved ones, for clubs, for IGR and for the Bingham Cup Ottawa 2022 organizing committee.
To honour and remember those who have passed away since we were all together, the Bingham Cup Ottawa 2022 is asking the IGR community to send photos for an In Memoriam segment during the opening ceremonies. Â People who wish to contribute should send photos with the name, date of birth and date of passing of loved ones to in.memoriam-2022@binghamcup.com. Â To ensure inclusion in our ceremonies, please send the pictures before August 3, 2022. Â
With you.
